New Delhi: A 53-year-old man hailing from Nepal was arrested in New Delhi for killing his 18-year-old daughter as he objected to her friendship with some boys, police said on Tuesday.

Vishnu Bahadur Thapa was arrested from his home on Monday in Sector 24 of Rohini area in north Delhi, Deputy Commissioner of Police B.S. Jaiswal said.

Police found the girl's highly decomposed body near a vacant plot in Rohini July 8. "There were several injury marks on her head. She was identified as Shanti," said Jaiswal.

During interrogation, Thapa told the police that he had asked her daughter many times not to stay out late at night and talk to boys but she did not listen and even became violent.

On July 5, when her daughter came home late at night, he asked her to change her ways.

"On this, Shanti became furious and picked a piece of brick to hit him. Thapa lost his cool and in a fit of anger, hit her on the head and face with a brick. He then wrapped her body in a bed sheet and dumped it near the plot," he added.
