New Delhi: A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle in gold worth about Rs 88 lakh at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi.
The accused was intercepted by customs officials after his arrival in Delhi from Bangkok on Saturday. On his personal search, gold weighing 3.7 kgs was recovered, a customs official said.
The value of gold is assessed to be Rs 88.68 lakh, he said, adding that the passenger was arrested.
The customs officials had last week also arrested three persons for allegedly trying to smuggle in gold bars worth about Rs 2.36 crore at the international airport.
