Man immolates self, lover

Delhi: She slit her mother's throat with the help of her married friend with whom she had planned to elope. But after the incident, her friend set her on fire and then immolated himself too.

The police said the incident occurred on Monday morning in Hari Nagar when the girl Soni, a class 12 student and her mother Baby were at home. "Soni's friend Raj Kumar Dhakad came to their house in his car which he parked around 500 meters away. He had also brought a container containing inflammable liquid with him. As he knocked at the door, Soni opened it and they went upstairs where they picked up argument with Baby. As the argument heated, Soni and Raj attacked Baby with sharp edged weapons and killed her. Dhakad then set Soni on fire and immolated himself too. On hearing the commotion, the neighbours called the police," said a police source.

Additional Commissioner of Police, (southeast Delhi), Virender Chahal said, "The bodies were found on the first floor of the house. The police received the call in afternoon. A CFSL team was also sent to the spot to ascertain which inflammable material was used by Dhakad in the act."

The police said that Soni's marriage had been fixed with an engineer in Bhagalpur. Her engagement was to take place on May 9 and marriage on June 22. The family had planned to leave Delhi on May15 but Dhakad had threatened them to cancel the marriage. Though the girl's family had talked to Dhakad's family in this matter but things were never resolved.

Soni's younger sister alleged that Dhakad had been stalking her sister for past two year though he was married and is survived by two sons.  "He used to call my sister and would propose her. My family had denied his proposal but despite that he had been stalking her. In recent past he had threatened my family that he will kill us if my sister marries someone else," said she. The police said that Dhakad had earlier been arrested by south east Delhi Police in connection with an extortion case.
