New Delhi:
Two persons were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and killing a 54-year-old man, police said on Monday.
Following investigations, Deepak (25), a resident of village Kunda in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from a house in Tilak Nagar here, while Sonu (22) was picked up from his home in Kunda, said Ajay Chaudhry, ACP South-East District.
Acting on a complaint about the missing of Vinod Kumar Gupta 'Bansal' from Masjid Moth on June 18, police zeroed in on Deepak and interrogated him.
Gupta had gone for a meeting at about 8 PM on June 17 and did not come back. His mobile phones were also switched off, police said, adding his car was found abandoned in Greater Noida.
Following the complaint, notices were issued in neighbouring states. Call details of the victim's mobile phone showed that Bansal was in touch with a man from Pratapgarh and he was missing since the day of the incident.
During interrogation, Sonu said he and Deepak and one of his friends had killed Bansal as he was resisting an attempt to rob him.
Police has recovered two gold rings and Rs 9,500 in cash.
