A man was shot at by two men allegedly over a property-related dispute, in Delhi's Jagatpuri area
New Delhi:
A 34-year-old man was shot at by two men allegedly over a property-related dispute, in east Delhi's Jagatpuri area, police said today. The victim, Ajay Garg, was found lying in a pool of blood outside his shop on April 16, they said, adding he was rushed to a private hospital.
According to the police, Mr Garg, who was shot from the back, said he couldn't see who the shooters were. The team investigating the case are examining a total of 15 CCTV videos between the victim's shop and his house. While scrutinising the footage, they noticed that a man on a blue scooter had been following the victim on the day of the incident.
We observed that the same scooter was parked outside a provision store adjacent to the victim's shop before the incident was reported, police said.
Upon investigating further, the police found out that the scooter belonged to a man named Aakash, whose father owns the provision store next to Mr Garg's shop. Aakash, who had been missing since the incident was traced and arrested when he went to meet a friend - Mohammad Javed - at a market in Krishna Nagar.
While being questioned by the police, Aakash confessed that Mr Garg, who had been their tenant for the last 30 years, stopped paying rent for the shop for last 5 years. He alleged that they had many arguments about it. However, Mr Garg refused to pay. Aakash also said that they had never reported the matter to the police.
Aakash, who says he "felt humiliated" about the non-payment of the rent decided to kill Mr Garg. For this, he took help from his friend Mohammad Javed, who allegedly gave Aakash the gun.
The police are further investigating the matter.
