New Delhi: A 30-year-old man, who is claimed to be mentally disturbed, allegedly stabbed his parents in west Delhi, apparently angry over them not helping him start a business, police said on Sunday.
The incident was reported from Janakpuri at around 9 pm on Saturday. Rohit Kapoor, the son, was detained by police in connection with the incident while his parents are recuperating at a hospital.
Ramesh Kapoor (63) and his wife Usha (59) were attacked with a kitchen knife. Rohit is mentally disturbed and is under medication for some time.
"He had been insisting his parents to open him a gift shop. However, his father asked him to wait for sometime. Last night there was some discussion on this. His mother objected to it," a senior police official said.
Angered over his mother's reaction, the official said, Rohit allegedly stabbed his mother. When his father intervened to save her, Rohit allegedly stabbed him also.
The parents were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Usha is in a critical condition and is in Intensive Care Unit.
The official said they were yet to arrest Rohit and were checking his medical condition.
