New Delhi:
A 35-year-old man was stoned to death by three persons after he objected to their act of spitting in a dish that had been prepared by his tenant. The police said that victim Ajay Jha was a resident of Sharda Enclave where he lived with his wife and children and a tenant of few years, Roshan Kumar.
"On April 17 at around 9 pm, Roshan was cooking food, when Jha's neighbours Rajesh and Brijbhan along with one of their friends arrived there. The trio asked Roshan what he was cooking and started cracking jokes at him. After some time, they spat into the dish he was preparing and ran away from the spot. Angered over their act, Roshan complained against the trio to his landlord Ajay," said a police official.
The official added that after hearing from Roshan about their act, Jha called Rajesh, Brijbhan and the third person (whose name is not known to police) and asked them why they had spat into his dish. Jha scolded them for their act on which they picked up an argument with him. The argument heated up and the three of them picked up bricks and thrashed Jha.
"They hit Jha on head. He suffered severe injuries and collapsed on road shouting for help while the three ran away from the spot. Jha was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment. On April 19, he succumbed to his injuries," said the official.
A case of murder has been lodged at Aman Vihar Police station of outer Delhi against the three persons.
The official said that the accused Rajesh runs a cosmetic shop while Brijbhan owns a grocery shop in the area. "The accused are on the run and police have launched a manhunt to nab them," he added.
