New Delhi: A Manipuri woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her rented accommodation in Delhi on Wednesday, police said.

The body of 21-year-old Reingamphi was discovered by her landlord at Malviya Nagar area in south Delhi.

She was lying on a blood soaked bed. Her mobile phone was in her hand, said an officer. Her uncle said that she had come to Delhi a few months ago.

"The main door of the room was locked from inside but another door was open. Someone killed her," the victim's uncle told IANS.

"We received a call around noon. The door was closed from inside, which was broken by the team of police," said an officer.

Police said they suspected it to be a case of suicide by poisonous substance. However, no suicide note was found.

"Empty wrappers of 16 tablets of Spasmocip Plus (Diclomine Hydrochloride) and 12 tablets of Meftal-Spas (diclomine HCL) were found in the dustbin during the search," the officer added.

The neighbours told police that that a man often visited her. He also came the previous day but she did not open the door.

Police said they were investigating the case from all possible angles. The cause of death is also being investigated. The body has been sent for autopsy.
