New Delhi:
The highly decomposed body of an unidentified man, aged around 35 years, was found inside a jute bag at a garbage dump in southeast Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area on Monday.
The incident came to light around 6 am, when an auto-rickshaw driver spotted the bag, with a visible human leg coming out and intolerable stench surrounding it. He raised an alarm and called up the police control room.
The jute bag was opened and a man's body was found stuffed inside. There were visible injury marks on the man's body which suggested that he was murdered somewhere else and his body was dumped in a garbage site at Jal Vihar colony in Lajpat Nagar to mislead the police, a senior police official said.
Efforts are on to ascertain his identity and a case of murder has been registered in connection with the matter, he added.
