New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested a man who used to deceive women through matrimonial sites by posing as a successful businessman.
Manish Gupta, 36, was nabbed in Ashok Vihar on Sunday following a complaint by a woman that he duped her of Rs 75,000.
"Gupta approached the complainant with a very attractive bio-data claiming himself as a divorcee and a successful businessman. After securing her confidence, he called her up asking for some money. Thinking that she was helping her future husband, she transferred Rs 75,000 into his account.
"After getting the money he started avoiding her. Growing suspicious, she enquired about Gupta only to find that he is not a divorcee but rather a married man having two daughters," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-north west) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere.
"From his mobile phone, we found details of over 30 such women who were on his radar for cheating and with whom he has been chatting regularly on Whatsapp," the DCP added.
