New Delhi: A 24-year-old mechanic died in north Delhi after he got stuck in a lift which he was repairing.
The incident took place in K-block of Sadar Bazar on Saturday and the deceased has been identified as Chandan Singh who hailed from Lucknow, police said.
He was called to rectify the problem in the lift in building number 47 but during repair work, the lift fell down and he suffered severe injuries in his head.
Police said it took 30 minutes to take him out of the lift. He was rushed to Safdurjung Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police said there was no eyewitness to the incident.
They suspected that somebody may have tried to operate the lift while he was repairing it leading to his death. A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 286 of Indian Penal Code has been registered.
