New Delhi:
Mother Dairy has decided to increase milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in the national capital region (NCR) from Saturday.
A fortnight ago, another popular brand Amul had increased prices by Rs 2 a litre in Delhi and NCR.
Mother Dairy's full cream milk will now cost Rs 35 a litre, toned milk is priced at Rs 27/litre, double toned at Rs 24/litre and Vended milk (token milk) at Rs 26/litre.
The dairy major, which has the largest distribution chain in Delhi and NCR, said it is forced to hike prices due to rise in procurement costs.
"To ensure availability of milk, Mother Dairy is forced to pay an increased procurement price," the company said, adding that the procurement price has increased sharply since December 2010 due to rise in input costs like cattle feed, fodder and cost of transportation.
