New Delhi:
A 35-year-old woman and her teenage daughter were found dead on Tuesday under mysterious circumstances at a government flat in south Delhi, police said.
The bodies of Tara Devi and Kajal (13) were recovered from their acquaintance Kamla Devi's flat located in Pushp Vihar. They arrived here from their native village of Ramnagar in Uttarakhand early on Tuesday morning, they said.
"They were strangled to death," a senior police official said.
Devi did not know the victims and was introduced to them by a person named Jagdish, a tailor by profession, as his relatives. The man told Devi that they needed a place to stay around for some time.
Kamla allowed them inside her house shortly before she left for work. The official said they were yet to question Kamla.
Kamla's children also left for work later. After Kamla returned home, she saw the bodies and raised an alarm.
A search is on to nab Jagdish, who is absconding, the official said.
