A murder convict died in Tihar Jail in New Delhi reportedly due to illness, officials said on Saturday.
Sirajuddin, 37, died on Thursday. He was lodged in the prison since 2009 in a murder case registered in east Delhi's Welcome police station.
"He died around 12:00 pm on Thursday. He was a heart patient as well as a diabetic," Tihar Jail DIG Mukesh Prasad said.
The body was sent for autopsy and a magisterial enquiry launched, he said.
According to the officer, Sirajuddin was undergoing medical treatment for a long time.
