NDMC Names Parks In Delhi After Swami Vivekananda, SP Mookerjee

NDMC Mayor Ravinder Gupta said Swami Vivekananda was a great social reformer and youth take inspiration from his life, so this is a fitting tribute.

New Delhi: The BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation today named two parks in Rohini after freedom fighter and Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee and legendary social reformer Swami Vivekananda.

NDMC Mayor Ravinder Gupta said Swami Vivekananda was a great social reformer and youth take inspiration from his life, so this is a fitting tribute.

"Swami Vivekananda was a great social reformer and even today's youth takes inspiration from him," Mr Gupta said at the naming ceremony.

Area councillor Neelam Goel said naming parks after such great leaders will encourage people to delve into their lives and take inspiration.

"Syama Prasad Mookerjee was a strong leader who raised the voice of the poor and hapless people of India many times," she said.

Another park in the same area was named as 'Ram Shyam Vatika'.
