Nephews stab uncle to death

New Delhi: Four persons were arrested for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old man in west Delhi who used to quarrel frequently with the father of two of the accused, police said on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Shamsher Singh, was assaulted with knives and hockey sticks on Sunday evening by five persons in Sudarshan Park in Moti Nagar area. Two of the accused -- Simarpreet and Amrit -- were his nephews, they said.

The three other accused were identified as Devender Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Jagjeet Singh. While Simarpreet is absconding, Amrit and the three others were arrested.

"The deceased's minor son was also present when the assault took place and he helped us identify the accused," a senior police official said.

According to the official, Shamsher used to have regular fights with the father of Amrit and Simarpreet.

"They could not take the constant abuses he would hurl at their father. They decided to teach him a lesson. The deceased was stabbed at least half a dozen times," the official said.
