New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), which is vying for the Smart City project rolled out by Urban Development Ministry, is now seeking suggestions from public about possible upgradation and development in its areas as well as finalising the revenue model for it.

NDMC has been selected by centre as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the Smart City Challenge Stage-2.

"We have to submit a Smart City Proposal (SCP) to the ministry, which shall outline the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders unfolding the aspiration of people matched with the vision contained in the proposal," said Neeraj Bharti, Director (Projects), NDMC.

"In order to make the smart city proposals more participatory and inclusive, we are inviting suggestions and ideas from citizens.

"The residents can give their suggestions pertaining to infrastructure services and smart solutions such as water supply, recycling and conservation, energy management using smart grid, sanitation including solid waste management and efficient urban mobility, among others," he said.

"Other areas that we are exploring as part of smart city version include robust IT connectivity and digitization, ensuring safety and security using CCTV surveillance, smart street lighting, public WiFi network, parking, development of non-motorized transport, sustainable environment, intelligent traffic management, energy efficient street lights, health and education services using IT enabled smart applications and innovative use of open spaces," Mr Bharti added.

The residents of the NDMC areas can submit their suggestions on the NDMC website as well as the urban development ministry website a link of which has been shared by the civic body.

The last date for submitting the suggestions and ideas is October 25, following which NDMC will consolidate a proposal based on the suggestions and a plan chalked out by its experts.

"The citizens can also share their ideas of financing of the smart city plan and the revenue model to attract private participation etc," Mr Bharti said.
