A 35-year-old Nigerian woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car in Delhi, police said on Friday.
The woman was found unconscious at the DND toll plaza near Mayur Vihar in east Delhi at 2:45 am on Friday. The toll plaza staff informed the police who took her to the LVS Hospital for a Medical check-up.
The police examined the footage obtained from the CCTV cameras installed at DND and found that she was dropped off by four men driving a Hyundai Accent car.
Police have arrested the four men and confiscated the car from Mayur Vihar. The Nigerian woman was on a tourist visa in India.
In December 2012, a medical student died after being gang-raped on a moving bus in Delhi, prompting mass protests and triggering a series of policing and legal reforms.
Last year, a driver for US-based online taxi service Uber allegedly sexually assaulted a woman passenger in New Delhi while driving her home from a dinner.
Police figures released earlier this year said 2,069 rape cases were registered in New Delhi during 2014, a 31 per cent jump compared to the previous year.
