Warangal: An MTech student from Delhi at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) allegedly committed suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of the hostel building located in the institute campus today, police said.
23-year-old Ankur Bharadwaj, who belongs to Delhi, died on the spot, they said.
"It was still unclear what forced him to take the extreme step," a senior police officer said, adding initial investigations said he was of a spiritual nature.
He was said to be confused as to whether to continue with his studies and become a professor or to become a spiritual guru, the officer said, rejecting media reports that alleged ragging by seniors drove him to end his life.
