A 26-year-old man, who was allegedly involved in a dozen cases of robberies, was arrested following a tip-off while he was roaming in a south Delhi mall on Sunday. A senior police official said the accused was identified as Chiranji Lal.
"He used to operate in northwest and outer Delhi areas and has also stabbed many people. He had come to Select City Mall in Saket for shopping. Police also recovered a knife from his possession," he said.
During interrogation, Chiranji Lal confessed to his crimes. He had been arrested earlier as well, along with his associates Ravideen, Ejul, Santosh and Virender. He was released in August 2010.
"Raman, one of his other associates, had once worked in a chemist shop. Acting on the information provided by him, Lal had committed drug theft thrice, in Budh Vihar, Ashok Vihar and Noida," added the official.
