Ola Terminates Services of Driver Held for Allegedly Misbehaving With Passengers

New Delhi: Two days after a man driving a cab registered under app-based service Ola was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with two women passengers, the company said that the concerned cab and the driver have both been struck out of their register.

"We have terminated the said vehicle and the driver from the Ola platform after reaching out to the customer to take her feedback. We have zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour from drivers-partners registered with us," said an Ola spokesperson.

"We have also assured full support on sharing all required information like driver details, GPS coordinates, etc, if need be, to help her pursue this. Ola is committed to the safety of its users at all times," the spokesperson added.

On Monday, a 28-year-old man driving an Ola cab was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with two passengers - a joint secretary-rank officer at a union ministry and her daughter.

The officer and her 18-year-old daughter had gone to a Diwali fair in south-east Delhi and booked the app-based cab for their residence in New Delhi area, police said.

During the journey, the passengers asked the driver to take help of GPS facility as he was taking the wrong roads. It later emerged that he didn't have GPS device at all, which led to an argument between the mother-daughter duo and the driver, said police.

During the argument, the driver, identified as Praveen, allegedly misbehaved with the two, and when things went out of control, he started insisting them to get out of the cab.

Meanwhile, it also emerged that the driver who was supposed to pick them was Arvind Babu and not Praveen, the police said.

The officer reported the matter to the police. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Praveen was arrested immediately, police added.
