New Delhi: They were just your average neighbourhood boys, just kicking a ball around in a park. Then they became much more.
When the teens in a south Delhi neighbourhood heard cries for help, they sprang into action.
It was late at night in August when the shouts rang out. The boys raced out of the park and saw a man attacking a foreigner.
Security cameras, installed on the lamp posts next to the park, document the man trying to snatch the foreigner's phone. He assaulted her within seconds. As he ran away, the boys scaled walls, followed him and finally managed to grab him.
"We were discussing where he could have gone when we saw him hiding behind a car. As we approached near him, he confidently came out as if he hadn't done anything. But we recognized him," said a college student identified as Japneet to the Times of India.
After they wrestled him, a witness phoned the police which arrived to collect the attacker.
