New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday set up a three-member committee for suggesting safety norms for planning and designing of metro stations and tunnels in the capital.

"No fire safety norms for metro station and tunnels exist in the country. DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has now gained enough experience and is in a position to develop fire safety norms which will be more suitable to our conditions and can act as guidelines or other metros coming up in the country," said an official statement.

The three-member committee will comprise Delhi Fire Service's chief fire officer G. C. Misra, DMRC's executive director (electrical) A.K. Singh, and DMRC's chief architect Papiya Sarkar.

The committee will submit its report in three months.
