New Delhi: Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai today claimed that the papers flung by a woman on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal yesterday pertained to the Centre and the AAP government had nothing to do with it.
A woman, identified as Bhavna Arora and claiming to be a member of the Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Sena, threw ink at Mr Kejriwal at a public rally yesterday accusing the AAP-led Delhi government to be directly involved in the CNG scam.
The minister claimed that the documents belonged to Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) which comes under Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
"PESO has 96 CNG-testing centres across the country. These centres issue compliance plates to CNG-run vehicles and on this basis, IGL employees refill CNG cylinders. The documents which the woman threw at CM belonged to two such CNG-testing centres in Delhi and the AAP government has nothing to do with them, Mr Rai said.
The BJP also accused the AAP government of indulging in the CNG scam.
"After examining these documents, it was seen that CNG-testing fitness centres were issued on a bike number, rather than cars, which indicates wrongdoings. I will write to Centre tomorrow requesting it to order a probe into this case and fix the responsibility of those who are behind this," Mr Rai said.
Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said that the allegations leveled by Bhavna Arora against AAP government over the sale of more than one lakh CNG stickers in Delhi "exposes double standards of the government."
Earlier in the day, the Aam Aadmi Party alleged that the ink attack on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was part of a "big rehearsal" to possibly "physically harm" him in future and that deliberately lax security was being provided to him by Delhi Police.
AAP leader Ashutosh claimed that "not a single" security person escorted the Delhi Chief Minister, who comes in Z-plus category, during his recent train journey from Punjab to the national capital after addressing a public rally.
Ms Arora, a resident of Rama Vihar in outer Delhi's Rohini sub-city, was arrested after seeking permission from a duty magistrate in view of the protocol to arrest a woman post sunset.
She was produced before a court today which sent her to one-day police custody.
