New Delhi:
There's finally some good news on the weather front as New Delhi experienced pre-monsoon showers today.
Today's rains are part of the pre-monsoon circulation, according to the Indian Meteorological Department or IMD. The usual date for the monsoon to hit Delhi is June 29 and the weather office hopes the monsoon will keep its date.
Earlier in its long range forecast, the IMD had forecast a bleak situation with a drought as likelihood for this monsoon season. Since then the monsoon has been progressing better than normal and sowing of crops is above normal.
It should be pointed out that the so called monsoon buster phenomenon El Nino has been growing and experts say excess rains in June are no indication that the monsoon as whole may not be deficient.
