New Delhi:
The Principal of Delhi's Ryan International school and four others were arrested over the death of a six-year-old child on campus last week.
Police have charged the principal Sandhya Sabu, a teacher and three other staff members of negligence after the
child drowned in a tank on campus on January 30.
The chargsheet in the case will be filed in three weeks, a police officer said, adding that the accused have been released on bail.
The Delhi government has asked the area's district magistrate to probe the death.
A team of forensic experts from the premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences visited the school on Tuesday to examine the scene.
Police officials had told NDTV that there was a "delay" by the school authorities informing them about the death.
Ramhit Meena, the father of Divyansh Kakrora had blamed the school authorities for the death of his son, a Class I, student.
"It is a conspiracy by the school authorities and someone in the staff must be involved in the incident," he had said.
However, the principal of the school had refuted the allegation and claimed that Divyansh was "hyperactive" and had a tendency of running away from the classroom.
"We really are saddened. It is a freak accident. He was a special child. We understand parents going through this moment of loss. But allegations are wrong," she had said.
She, however, could not explain how the child fell into the water tank beneath the amphitheatre of the school. Divyansh was last seen before the seventh period on Saturday, which was around 12.20 PM.
The authorities then started looking for him and found him floating inside the pit which is used as a water storage tank under the amphitheatre in the school's playground.
This incident came just three days after a five year old boy drowned in a septic tank in a corporation-run school in Delhi.
