Delhi Police today claimed to have busted a prostitution racket in south Delhi with the arrest of nine persons, including four women and a high-profile woman pimp.
Sonu Punjaban (30), a high-profile pimp, four sex workers and four pimps Arun Thakral (22), Raju Sharma (22), Vijay Kumar (27) and Mohd Arif (20) were arrested on Friday from Mehrauli.
"Punjaban is a high-end pimp and has a number of high-class sex workers in her muster roll and supplies them in posh areas of Delhi, NCR, five star hotels and farm houses.
"She is the wife of a dreaded criminal named Vijay who was killed in a police encounter and had later married another gangster Hemant who was also shot dead in an encounter by police," H G S Dhaliwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said.
He said she had received large number of orders of sex workers from customers arranging parties in various farm houses during the recent Cricket world Cup matches and she had made special arrangements for the same.
During interrogation, she told police that she decided to enter the flesh trade to support her lavish life style.
Initially, she worked alone but later, as more high-profile were clients added to the list; she formed a group of aspiring models and actresses who would often get trapped in her net.
