Rain Brake On Delhi Traffic Again

Traffic jams were reported from various parts of the national capital after heavy rains.

New Delhi: Traffic jams were reported from various parts of the national capital after heavy rains on Friday afternoon led to water logging at various road intersections.

Commuters had a hard time as vehicular traffic crawled on the roads clogged with long tailbacks after city was drenched with 29.6 mm rainfall in more than an hour-long precipitation.

The traffic police control room was flooded by over 1,400 calls of waterlogging and potholes from various parts.

Traffic police reported heavy traffic on almost all the major carriageways due to waterlogging and also due to potholes caused by rains.

The affected stretches included MB Road from Khanpur to Mehrauli, RTR to Motibagh, IGNOU T point, Chirag Delhi towards Moolchand and ITO.

Commuters were barely able to move as the road from Chirag Delhi towards Moolchand was jammed due to water logging near Krishi Vihar.

Water-logged roads hampered traffic flow before Zakir Husain College, Anand Parbat, Durga Puri Chowk, Loha Mandi in Naraina and at central school Andrews Ganj.

Severe water logging was reported on road stretches at Prem Bari Pul to Wazir Pur Depot, AIIMS to Lajpat Nagar and GRR Flyover to Dhaula Kuan.

Towards late evening, reports of water logging also came from Shastri Park Iron Bridge Pushta and the route from GPO T-Point to Ring Road.

Police had to maneuver traffic at Peera Gari Chowk, Bhairo Enclave, Mathura Road, Paschim Vihar, Moti Nagar Flyover, Khajuri Chowk, and at Qutab Chowk.

Heavy traffic and bottlenecks were also witnessed on road stretches from Punjabi Bagh flyover to Rajouri Garden flyover, Mandi House to W-Point, Baraf Khana, Minto Road, Leela Palace and on Meerabagh Outer Ring Road.

Both carriageways in Hoshiyar Singh Marg and Auribindo Marg faced heavy traffic.
