Watch: Rain, Hailstorm In Parts Of Delhi Brings Relief From Scorching Heat

Rain brought relief to Delhi this evening after days of scorching heat even as parts of north and northeast India continue to witness heatwave conditions. Hailstorms were also reported from parts of the city.

The weather office had predicted light to moderate rainfall for Delhi and nearby areas in north India over the next three days.

Meanwhile, the toss has been delayed for the IPL match scheduled in the city due to the rain.

The heatwave conditions are prevailing in isolated pockets over the Gangetic West Bengal for eight days, coastal Andhra Pradesh for the last six days, Bihar for five days, and Punjab and Haryana for two days, according to the weather office.
Delhi has been reeling under heatwave condition for the past few days with the temperature breaching the 40-degrees mark.

Today, it recorded a minimum temperature of 23.6 degrees Celsius in the morning, while the maximum was expected to hover around 38 degrees.

"The maximum temperature is likely to drop by two to three degrees more over the next two days in the city," a weather official had said.

In the Northeast, Tripura had declared the heat wave as a state disaster and shut schools for a week.
