Rain, thunderstorm likely in Delhi

New Delhi: It was a pleasant morning in the capital today with minimum temperature settling at 27.8 degrees Celsius, average for this time of year. The Met office has forecast cloudy sky with rain and thunderstorm in some areas.

"The skies will remain generally cloudy with rain and thunder storm occurring in some areas," an India Meteorological Department official told IANS.

"The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius," he said.

The maximum temperature settled at 39.4 degrees Celsius yesterday, two notches above average, while the minimum temperature settled at 30.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above average.

The monsoon arrived in Delhi last Sunday, a fortnight ahead of schedule, but the national capital has not received any rain since, due to a weak phase of the monsoon, the IMD official.
