New Delhi: A young executive paid with his life on New Year day here for his relationship with a woman when her brother, who was against the affair, and his four friends allegedly burnt him to death, police said today.
All the five, aged between 19 and 24 years, were arrested recently for the murder of Vaibhav Mishra (28), Territorial Manager with Reliance Communications, within 30 minutes into the New Year.
"Mishra was having an affair with sister of one Surender. The brother did not like the relationship. Surender came to know that Mishra has come to attend a party in Dakshinpuri. With the help of friends with whom he was partying, he murdered Mishra," said O P Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East).
The burnt body of Mishra, who hailed from Baroli district in UP, and his motorcycle were found in Dakshinpuri on early morning of the New Year.
The body was identified by Mishra's friends.
The official said Mishra had come to attend a party at about 11.45 pm on December 31 in Dakshinpuri hosted by his distributor Pradeep Kumar. Mishra left the party 45 minutes later.
During the investigation, it also came to light that the deceased was having a relationship with a 22 year-old woman, whose brother was against the affair.
"We rounded up Surender and he confessed to the crime," the official said.
Surender (22) was attending a party with his friends Rajiv (24), Anand Prakash (20), Anil (19) and Rahul (21).
"Surender had seen Mishra coming to A-block Dakshinpuri. Then he hatched a conspiracy with his friends to murder Mishra as he had seen him roaming with his sister earlier.
"As soon as Mishra reached near Auto Market in Dakshinpuri, Surender and others stopped him and overpowered him. In a secluded area, they all beat him up. After this, the accused poured petrol on Mishra and set him and the motorcycle on fire," the official said.
Surender, Anil, Rahul and Rajiv are employees of a band company, while Prakash is working as a private sweeper at Sanchar Mantralaya in CGO Complex.
