Roads to avoid unless you are attending Arvind Kejriwal's swearing in

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, who will become Delhi's youngest chief minister today, says he will use the Metro to get to Ramlila Maidan for his swearing-in ceremony, along with the other elected members of his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued traffic advisory to avoid congestion and safety of the people:

The Swearing-in Ceremony of the Chief Minister, Delhi will be held at 12.00 noon on 28.12.2013 at Ramlila Ground. A number of important dignitaries, general public and the media etc. are scheduled to attend the ceremony at designated time. In this regard elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been planned to ensure traffic circulation, pedestrians' movement, safety of visitors as well as that all the dignitaries and invitees reach the venue on the time and the function is held smoothly.

Due to the ceremony, traffic congestion is expected in the areas of New Delhi and Central Delhi. The roads affected would be between 10 AM to 2 PM on 28.12.2013 are - JLN Marg, Rajghat, Delhi Gate, Asaf Ali Marg, Netaji Subash Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg.

THE PARKING OF VEHICLES WILL BE AT FOLLOWING PLACES:-

1. Parking for officials at Chaman Lal Marg, Asaf Ali Road and on footpath of JLN Marg.
2. General Parking shall be at Mata Sundri Parking, Power House road, Veldrome road, Rajghat parking, Shanti Van Parking, service road Rajghat & Samta Sthal as per requirements.
3. Media Parking at Tagore Road.
4. OB Vans shall park on Footpath of JLN Mg. opp. Ramlila Maidan beyond gate No. 2 upto R/A Kamla Market.

DIVERSIONS PLAN

No commercial vehicles will be allowed from:

(1) Delhi Gate and Rajghat to JLN Marg.
(2) R/A Kamla Market to Ajmeri Gate.
(3) Kamla Market R/A towards Hamdard.
(4) Paharganj Chowk and Y Point Sheela Cinema to Ajmeri Gate.
(5) DDU Minto Lt. Pt. towards Kamla Market.
(6) Lahori Gate towards Ajmeri Gate on Shraddhanand Marg.
(7) K.G. Marg, Tolstoy Marg towards Guru Nanak Chowk via Ranjit Singh flyover.

Buses including Chartered Buses will NOT be allowed on Ranjit Singh Marg towards Gurunanak Chowk.

No commercial vehicle shall be allowed on JLN Marg from Rajghat.

Route for New Delhi Railway Station:

People visiting to New Delhi Railway Station from East and North Delhi should take I.P. Marg, D.D.U Marg to reach Ajmeri Gate or Paharganj side of New Delhi Railway Station.

Route for LNJP Hospital:

People going to LNJP hospital will be facilitated to reach hospital through normal route. Traffic Police has been briefed to be helpful to patients and their relatives.

The public is advised to make maximum use of public transport, especially Delhi Metro. Adequate traffic arrangements have been made to ensure proper traffic movement as far as possible.
