New Delhi:
A school girl has been gang-raped by four men, allegedly in a moving car, in Greater Noida near Delhi.
She went missing from her house on March 4 and was found yesterday abandoned in a forest by the police.
She says she had been thrown there by the four men who are suspected of raping her.
The police says she knew one of the men, which is why she got into the car. Two men have been arrested; the others are missing.
The case has grim similarities to the fatal gang-rape of a medical student on a moving bus in Delhi in December, which triggered large street protests, new anti-rape laws and a strident demand for better policing in and around the capital.
But today, a report in Parliament says that between January and mid-Febraury, 181 rapes have been reported in Delhi -that's four cases a day, twice as many as were recorded for the same period last year. (Read)
