New Delhi:
Delhi Metro is planning to set up specialised medical counters in some stations to provide immediate help to patients in emergency cases and is in discussion with two hospital groups.
"We are currently in talks with two hospitals for setting up of counters at some stations where commuters who are unwell or injured can be helped," Rajumar, Director (Operations) of DMRC, said.
The logistics are being worked out in this regard, he said adding that at present, its staff is called to help unwell passengers.
"We have unwell or injured people seeking medical help at our stations on an everyday basis. We rush them to the hospital and offer whatever medical aid is necessary," he said.
Some of the DMRC staff is trained in first aid and are capable of administering help, he said adding that they were now looking at starting these medical counters.
He said they were looking at the space available and security aspects before deciding which stations should be selected for the purpose.
