Share-trading agent raped in Delhi

New Delhi: A 25-year-old share-trading agent was raped allegedly by her online friend, who was "blackmailing" her using some of her photographs, and his associate after drugging her, police said on Sunday.

The youths also threatened to release video of the rape if the victim, who resides in Rohini, approached police.

The woman, a divorcee, was sexually assaulted last Monday in Hauz Khaz when she went to collect the photographs from Shanu, whom she befriended through internet, a senior police official said.

Shanu Dhingra and his friend Sumit, both in their early twenties, were arrested from Haryana's Panipat following investigations into the complaint filed by the victim, who works as a share-trading agent.

Dhingra had allegedly threatened to make public the photographs and the victim had even paid Rs 1.6 lakh to him in two instalments.

"She was asked to come to Kashmere Gate Metro station by Dhingra on Monday to collect the photographs. He took her to Green Park and from there to a house where Sumit was waiting," a senior police official said.

The duo then allegedly offered cold drinks laced with sedatives to her and after having the drink, she became unconscious.

According to the victim, the official said, the duo forced her to drink liquor and allegedly took turns to rape her. "They also allegedly filmed her at the same time," the official said.

On Tuesday morning, Dhingra dropped her at the Kashmere Gate Metro Station and allegedly threatened to release the video if she disclosed the incident to anyone. The victim came in contact with Dhingra three months ago through internet and fell in love.

Dhingra is doing a degree course from IGNOU while Sumit has completed his diploma in textile designing.

The duo were booked under Sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
