Sheila Dikshit won't decide the fate of Delhi, people will: Arvind Kejriwal hits back

The Aam Aadmi Party began a 22-day march in Delhi today.

New Delhi: Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal has hit back at Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for her comments that the Aam Aadmi Party will not win the December 4 elections.

"She is not the person who is going to decide the fate of Delhi. It is the people who will decide," the 45-year-old leader making one of the most talked-about debuts in electoral politics said.

"I am not going to comment on someone who has just entered politics. Either Congress or BJP will get majority in Delhi," Ms Dikshit told NDTV on Thursday, remarks that provoked Mr Kejriwal's response today.

Mr Kejriwal spoke to reporters as he launched his party's 22-day 'Jhadu Chalao Yatra' (Sweep the broom march) in Delhi today. Broom is the election symbol of the Aam Aadmi Party.

He said he plans to visit all the 70 constituencies in Delhi during the march to interact with people and discuss their problems. On today's itinerary were Chandi Chowk, Matia Mahal and Ballimaran in Old Delhi.

Experts say the year-old Aam Aadmi Party is likely to make a major dent into the bipolar politics of Delhi, dominated by the Congress and the BJP so far.

At a seminar at the Stanford University in the US, experts compared the party, which has taken on established parties in India, to David's fight against Goliath.
