Rohini: At least two cops were injured in a shootout between police and criminals today on the outskirts of west Delhi's Rohini area.
The encounter that began around 9.30 am lasted for about an hour during which two of the criminals, Sudhir Kala and Abhay suffered gunshot injuries. Several rounds were fired from both sides.
"There was an encounter between a police team and a group of criminals in Rohini Sector 24 in which constable Pradip sustained bullet injury in the thigh while two criminals Sudhir and Vijay were also injured," said Vikramjeet Singh, DCP (outer).
According to police sources, a gang of five criminals were on their way to target a property dealer when their car was intercepted by Delhi Police in Begumpur area. The cops then shot at tires of their car after which the criminals opened fire at police injuring two constables.
It was not immediately known who the criminals are and what led to the encounter.
