New Delhi: An angry fan allegedly assaulted a shopkeeper in south Delhi for switching the television off while an Indian Premier League (IPL) match was in progress on Wednesday. Police later arrested the person.
According to police, Govind Lal, of Sunlight Colony in Kilokri village, was watching the match on Wednesday night, when he got in an argument with Belu Gandhi who told Govind Lal not to turn off the television.
"Unfazed, Govind Lal turned off the television, infuriating Belu Gandhi, who then attacked him with an unidentified weapon," a police official said.
"Badly injured, Govind Lal was rushed to a nearby hospital while Belu Gandhi escaped," he added.
Govind Lal's condition is said to be stable.
