New Delhi: Delhi Metro commuters faced a harrowing time on Wednesday when a technical snag affected services on a line, causing trains to run slow and halt for several minutes at many stations and consequently resulting in overcrowding.

Operations on the Blue Line from Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida City Centre/Vaishali were affected around 10 am when a fault was noticed in a Noida-bound train.

"A Noida-bound train coming from Dwarka Sector 21 station was stopped at Dwarka Sector 14 station when a fault was noticed in that particular train," a Delhi Metro official told IANS.

He added that the train was taken off service and sent to a nearby depot for checking.

All passengers on-board the train were asked to alight.

"All other lines remained unaffected. The fault will only be known once the checking is done," the official added.

"I boarded a train at 9.15 am from Dwarka Sector 9 station which kept standing till around 10 am. I reached my office in Noida only at 12 noon," Sangeeta, a passenger, said.

Nearly seven lakh passengers travel by the Blue Line on average daily.
