South African woman held with drugs worth Rs. 19 lakh at Delhi airport

New Delhi: A South African woman was arrested by anti-narcotics sleuths when she was allegedly trying to smuggle out eight kilograms of banned drugs from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi.

The woman, identified as Bella Moloi, was intercepted by a member of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which secures both the domestic and international terminals of the airport, yesterday evening at the Terminal-3 of the airport when she was about to board a flight to Kochi and subsequently to Dubai, a senior official said.

"The movement of the woman was suspicious. Based on input, she was subjected to intensive screening which revealed eleven polybags containing 8-kilograms of pseudoephedrine in her baggage. The Narcotics Control Bureau was informed who took her in their custoday," the official said.

The drug is used as a stimulant and is popular in parties. The estimated cost of the recovered narcotics is about Rs 19 lakh in domestic market, the official said.
