Speeding auto kills man on scooter in Delhi

New Delhi: A 38-year-old man was killed when a speeding 'grameen seva' auto hit him in East Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Geeta Colony on Monday night and the deceased has been identified as Rajiv Kakkar.

Kakkar along with his 12-year-old son was on his way to the market on his scooter to buy cheese when the auto rammed into the two-wheeler from behind. The auto driver fled the spot.

Angry locals damaged grameen seva vehicles and protested outside the Geeta Colony Police Station.

Kakkar, who owned a small printing office, was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where doctors declared him dead. His body was handed over to his family after a post mortem examination.

In another incident, a class 9 student, Imran Ali was killed when a van rammed into the motorcycle he was riding in Abul Fazal Enclave in Shaheen Bagh.

The erring driver was arrested.
