Speeding Car, Allegedly Driven By 18-Year-Old, Kills Delhi Police Officer

A Delhi Police officer was run over by a speeding car allegedly driven by a 18-year-old boy.

New Delhi: A 54-year-old constable was run over by a speeding car allegedly driven by an 18-year-old boy, who did not have a driving licence, near Welcome metro station in northeast Delhi this morning.

Naresh Pal Malik, a Head Constable in Delhi Police's Special Branch, was knocked off his scooter on his way to work around 8.30 am.

Locals chased the car and caught hold of Shubham who was driving it. He does not have a driving license, a senior official said.

Mr Pal, who suffered serious head injuries, was taken to GTB Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, police said.

He was a resident of Surya Vihar, Ghaziabad, and had joined Delhi Police in 1982.
