New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has in a tweet attack this morning advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "stop being stubborn," and "work together," once again asking him to hand over law and order to the state government.
The Chief Minister - who has written a number of letters to PM Modi over the last few months seeking his intervention in allowing the Delhi government to function independently - has cited a new survey to bolster his case.
"Modiji, stop being stubborn and let us work together. Give control of the Anti Corruption Bureau and Delhi Police to the Delhi government. We'll fix things in one year," Mr Kejriwal tweeted, referencing a survey by research and polling agency CMS, that, the Chief Minister said, shows corruption is down in the Delhi government, but up in the Delhi Police.
"Shocking findings CMS survey 2day-Del police (under Modiji n his LG) most corrupt- scathing attack on Modiji's capbilities n intentions," said Mr Kejriwal.
"Second finding- corruption has come down in delhi govt -it proves AAP govt's neeyat n admn capability," he added.
Since his Aam Aadmi Party or AAP swept Delhi in February this year, Mr Kejriwal has been engaged in an intense turf battle with the BJP-led Central government, which controls crucial functions, including law and order, in the capital through Lieutenant Governor Nadeem Jung.
The Chief Minister has launched multiple attacks on the Centre over increased crime in the capital. After two very young girls were brutally raped in Delhi over the weekend, Mr Kejriwal held a cabinet meeting on Monday and announced plans to make the city safer.
He also met Mr Jung to reiterate his demand that the control of the city's police be handed to the Delhi government.
