New Delhi: A 15-year-old girl in Delhi hanged herself from a fan at her home on Tuesday, allegedly upset over her CBSE Class 10 result that was declared in the afternoon.
The girl, a student of Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj in south Delhi, had scored 70 per cent marks. She, according to reports, wanted to pursue the Science stream, but feared she would not be allowed to due to her score.
No suicide note was found.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old student hanged himself at his home in Kakrola in West Delhi's Dwarka after he secured 59 per cent marks in the board exam, reported news agency Press Trust of India. The boy was studying in M R Vivekananda Model School in Dwarka.
He was rushed to a local hospital soon after he hung himself, but was declared brought dead. Police said they got a call around 3.45 pm regarding the incident. No suicide note was recovered, they added.
Of the 16 lakh students who appeared for the CBSE Class 10 exams this year, 86.70 per cent cleared the exam, which is 4.25 per cent lower than it was last year. Last year the overall pass percentage was 90.95 per cent. It was 96.21 per cent in 2016.
About 1.8 lakh students got a compartment, which is about 11.45 per cent.
