Sudden Rains Subdue Soaring Mercury in Delhi

New Delhi: Strong winds and rains lashed the national capital in the evening on Wednesday, which pulled down the mercury after it almost touched 40 degree Celsius during the day.

Delhiites had to sweat it out in the afternoon as the maximum temperature was registered at 39.5 degree Celsius, one notch above normal and slightly higher from Tueday's 38.6 degree Celsius.

However, in the evening, clouds descended over the national capital following which rains and thunderstorm was reported in several parts of the city.

The unseasonal rains caught commuters off guard during peak evening rush hour as traffic jams were witnessed on several arterial roads of the city.

According to Indian Metrological Department  (MeT) officials, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.2 degree celsius which was normal for this part of the year and one point above previous day's 24.2 degree celsius.

Weatherman has predicted mainly clear sky on Friday. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 40 degree celsius while the minimum may settle around 26 degree Celsius.
