A 40-year-old woman today allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of the Guru Teg Bahadur hospital in New Delhi where she was undergoing treatment, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Rekha, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr city. She was undergoing treatment after she attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance after killing her stepson and stepdaughter, they said, adding no suicide note has been found.
She was found unconscious on Wednesday last at her house and the body of her 11-year-old stepson was lying near her while the body of her 14-year-old stepdaughter was found in the kitchen, police said, adding a purported suicide note was also found in which she said she had not killed the children.
Rekha's husband is a senior officer in CDO office in Bulandshahr. She was his second wife and they were married in 2005. She had two children out of this wedlock.
Police handed over the body to her family members after post mortem, the official said.
