New Delhi:
A 17-year-old girl was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in Gokulpuri area of North-East Delhi on Sunday morning.
The girl has been identified as Huma Kausar, police said.
The police suspect it to be a case of enmity as her brother Aftab was stabbed to death by some people, who had allegedly molested Kausar in April.
"At around 10 am, we received a PCR call that a body has been spotted near F Block, Ganga Vihar near a drain in bushes. The victim's body had marks of strangulation on her neck and injuries all over her body and her clothes were torn," said a police official.
The victim was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
"The cause of the deceased's death would be established only after post mortem examination. It would be too early to say whether she was sexually assaulted or it is a case of enmity," the police official said.
Kauser lived with her parents in Sanjay Colony area. On Saturday night, her parents had gone somewhere, leaving her alone.
A case of murder has been registered and investigations are on, police said.
