New Delhi: Women passengers will be allowed to travel free in buses operated by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on occasion of Raksha-bandhan.
"DTC has decided to provide free ride on its buses to the female passengers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 18.
"The free travelling facility for female passengers will be available in Delhi and NCR in non AC buses between 8 AM to 5 PM," the DTC said in a statement.
It also said that keeping in view heavy rush of commuters on this day, DTC has also decided to put its maximum buses on road to cater the extra rush of the passengers.
"The depot managers have been directed to carry out all the maintenance activities of buses so that all the buses of their depot could be put on road timely.
"Sufficient number of traffic supervisory staff will be deputed on the heavy loading points for the convenience of commuters," an official said.
