Three held for fake domestic help placement bureau

New Delhi: Three people were arrested in New Delhi for running a fake domestic help placement bureau and duping at least 20 people, police said on Monday.

Arvind Kamat, 20, Sukhi Mukhiya, 25, and Shyam Kumar, 28, were arrested on a complaint by businessman Anuj Gandhi.

Kamat was arrested from west Delhi's Matiala Extension area last week and his aides were taken into custody following his interrogation, police said.

According to Mr Gandhi, the trio provided him with a domestic help in exchange for an annual commission of Rs 18,000. The domestic help was to be paid a monthly salary of Rs 2,500.

On October 14, Mukhiya alias Pankaj took Rs 8,000 from Mr Gandhi and provided him with a domestic help, who ran away from the house the next day, he said.

Later, he tried to call Mukhiya but his cell phone was found switched off, police said.

During investigation, it was revealed that the gang members had duped at least 20 people, a police official said.

Police said the gang members changed their hideouts and mobile numbers frequently to conceal their identity.
