Three students held for killing a youth during robbery

New Delhi: Three school students were apprehended in south-west Delhi today for allegedly stabbing to death a youth when he resisted their attempts to rob him 20 days ago.

The teenagers allegedly used to waylay passers-by in secluded areas in Sagarpur and rob them and if the victims resisted, they used to stab them, A K Ojha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West), told reporters here.

"There were four members in the gang. One of them is absconding. They are students of Class X and XI," he said.

They were apprehended from Sagarpur area following investigations into the murder of Virender (24), an employee of a private company, on February 24. "He was stabbed to death and his mobile phone and cash were missing," Ojha said.

A number of local criminals were interrogated in connection with the case, he said, adding that investigators received an input that a gang of juveniles could be involved in the murder.

The teenagers told police that they waylaid Virender on the fateful day and asked him to part with his belongings.

When he resisted, Ojha said, they stabbed him.

This is the second case of students being apprehended for their alleged involvement in the murder in the city in the past three days.

On Sunday, nine students were apprehended for allegedly murdering a 16-year-old boy after one of them was enraged at the victim informing his father that he had not returned Rs 2,500 which he borrowed.
